Wellbeing
At Belmore, we believe children thrive when they feel happy, safe and valued.
Wellbeing sits at the heart of school life. We know that children learn best when they feel a sense of belonging, have positive relationships and are supported to understand and manage their emotions. That is why we place equal importance on children's personal development, emotional wellbeing and academic achievement.
Our aim is to create a nurturing environment where every child feels known, supported and confident to be themselves. Through strong relationships, consistent routines and a culture of kindness and respect, we help children develop the resilience and self-belief they need to flourish both in school and beyond.
Promoting Positive Wellbeing
Wellbeing is not a standalone programme at Belmore; it is embedded throughout the school day.
We promote positive wellbeing by:
- Building strong, trusting relationships between children, staff and families
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong
- Encouraging children to talk openly about their feelings and emotions
- Celebrating achievement, progress, effort and personal growth
- Providing opportunities for play, creativity, physical activity and outdoor learning
- Developing confidence, resilience and independence through The Belmore Experience
- Encouraging pupil voice and ensuring children feel listened to
Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider enrichment opportunities, children learn strategies to manage challenges, build healthy relationships and look after their own wellbeing.
Supporting Children When They Need It
We recognise that some children may need additional support from time to time.
Our pastoral team works closely with children, families and external agencies to ensure the right support is available when needed. This may include individual support, small group interventions or targeted wellbeing programmes.
We are committed to working in partnership with families and believe that early support and open communication are key to helping children overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Working Together
Supporting wellbeing is a shared responsibility between school and home.
We value the strong relationships we have with our families and encourage parents and carers to speak to us if they have any concerns about their child's wellbeing. Together, we can ensure every child feels supported, confident and ready to thrive.
If you would like to discuss your child's wellbeing, please contact the school office and a member of our team will be happy to help.
